TL;DR
  • T-Mobile’s new T-Mix plans are being criticized by customers for their confusing “Picks” system and restrictions on changing benefits.
  • Customers worry they’ll have to choose between streaming perks and device promotions, with families potentially getting less value.
  • Reddit users also fear losing legacy-plan benefits and discounts, while some say cheaper carriers offer a better deal.

T-Mobile has officially unveiled its new T-Mix plans, but its latest attempt to give customers more control over their perks is already facing backlash.

Users have taken to Reddit’s r/tmobile community to criticize the new plans for being unnecessarily complicated, offering questionable value, and possibly making it harder for families to get the benefits they want.

Are T-Mobile's new T-Mix plans worth it?

The new T-Mobile T-Mix lineup includes Standard, More, and Loaded plans, starting at $55, $75, and $95 per month for a single line, respectively.

Each plan comes with a set number of “Picks” that customers can use to select benefits such as streaming subscriptions, music services, gaming, food delivery, and device promotions. Customers can generally change their selections every three months, although some wireless benefits can be changed at any time.

The biggest complaint T-Mobile users have is that the Picks system seems unnecessarily complicated. “This is so convoluted,” one Redditor wrote, while another suggested the complexity was deliberate, saying, “Deliberately confusing to reap more $$.” One commenter even joked, “Finally, a plan created by AI that requires AI to understand. The circle is complete.”

Customers are questioning whether T-Mix offers enough value for the money.

Beyond the confusing structure of Picks, customers are questioning whether T-Mix offers enough value for the money. A recurring complaint is that subscribers may have to choose between streaming perks and device promotions rather than enjoying both. As one Redditor put it, “Now on these plans you basically get either a subsidized phone or streaming services, but there are not enough perks for both.”

Families are particularly concerned that their available Picks won’t go far enough to cover device upgrades across multiple lines while retaining their preferred subscriptions. One commenter warned that customers who run out of Picks for upgrades after choosing streaming services might simply switch carriers.

“Just yesterday you could sign up on Experience More/Beyond and get Netflix, Hulu & all the latest iPhones for 4 lines. Now if you want the latest iPhones for a family of four, you don’t even get base Netflix with ads or any other bonus for that matter. In fact, you can’t even get all 4 family members on a pick 3 tier promotion since the highest tier T mix plan caps out at 11 picks to share amongst everyone,” a user said.

Meanwhile, some Redditors pointed out the irony of the carrier previously pushing customers toward newer plans in the name of simplification, only to introduce another complicated system. “I like how they forced people off of legacy plans to simplify things and then almost immediately introduced new plans that add more complications,” one user wrote.

Many customers are also concerned about free-line eligibility, promotional discounts, taxes, and fees. What do you think of T-Mobile’s new T-Mix plans? Take our poll and share your thoughts in the comments.
