TL;DR
  • Straight Talk has upgraded its unlimited plans without increasing its monthly base prices.
  • The $45 Silver plan now includes 5G Ultra Wideband, while Silver and Gold get more hotspot data.
  • Customers also benefit from expanded international perks and savings on Home Internet bundles.

It’s not often that your mobile carrier gives you extra without asking for more money in return. Straight Talk is bucking that trend with the latest refresh of its unlimited plans, adding more hotspot data, international benefits, and faster 5G access to its cheapest tier, all without raising monthly base prices.

According to a Verizon press release, the biggest winner is the $45-per-month Silver Unlimited plan, which now includes access to 5G Ultra Wideband. Verizon claims this offers speeds three times faster than standard 5G. The $55 Gold and $65 Platinum plans already had Ultra Wideband access, so this is a particularly welcome upgrade for Silver subscribers, who haven’t seen their plan’s base price increase since 2009.

Silver customers are also getting 15GB of mobile hotspot data, up from 10GB, while Gold subscribers see their allowance jump from 30GB to 50GB. That’s a 50% and 66% increase, respectively. Platinum continues to offer unlimited hotspot data, so there’s no apparent change on that front for the most expensive tier.

There are also some international perks to sweeten the deal. Silver now includes unlimited calling and texting to Canada, Mexico, India, and China, while Gold offers unlimited calling and texting to over 200 destinations, plus 10GB of roaming in Canada and Mexico. Gold and Platinum subscribers retain existing benefits such as Walmart Plus memberships and cloud storage.

Finally, Straight Talk is extending its discounted Home Internet bundle to Silver subscribers. Customers on any of the three unlimited plans can now add Home Internet for $35 per month, saving $10 on the standard price. Gold and Platinum customers already had access to this discount, but it’s another new benefit for those on the cheapest plan.

The refreshed plans are available through Straight Talk online and at Walmart, with no changes to their monthly base prices.
