Sprint Kickstart: $25 unlimited data if you switch carriers (Update: Last day!)

Sprint increased the cost of the plan by $10, but even now it's still an incredible deal.

Update, August 29, 2018 (10:43AM EST): Sprint didn’t give exact information on when this Kickstart flash sale will end. The only information (as stated below) is that it will end on August 30, 2018, which is tomorrow. Now, that could be 12:01 A.M. EST on August 30, or it could be 11:59 P.M. PST on August 30 — we don’t know. But it’s better to be safe than sorry, so if you are interested in this deal you should get on it TODAY before it’s too late!

Original Article, August 24, 2018 (02:32PM EST): Back in June, Sprint briefly offered an incredible deal: switch to Sprint from any other carrier and get unlimited talk, text, and data for only $15 per month for as long as you keep the line active.

The deal lasted for only a week before it vanished, but now Sprint is bringing it back, albeit for $10 more than the previous offer, per USA Today.

Starting today, Friday, August 24, until next Thursday, August 30, you can take advantage of the Kickstart offer exclusively at Sprint.com. Just like in June, the offer will not be available in stores, so don’t bother trying to visit one to sign up.

To be clear, this Kickstart offer does not get you all the perks of Sprint’s typical unlimited plans. These are the caveats:

  • Your data is unlimited while you’re on the Sprint network (i.e., roaming charges could occur)
  • Mobile hotspot is not included
  • Video streaming is only available in standard definition
  • Music streams at up to 500Kbps
  • Games stream at up to 2Mbps
  • Calls are unlimited within the U.S. only
  • Texts are unlimited both to and from the U.S. and other select countries

Some of those might be deal-breakers for you (the lack of hotspot is an automatic deal-breaker for me, personally), but if you’re looking for an incredibly cheap way to connect a secondary phone or child’s device to a mobile network, you really can’t beat $25 per month.

What would the T-Mobile-Sprint merger mean for you?
Features

As stated up top, to be eligible for this plan you must port a phone number from another carrier to Sprint. You also must bring your own compatible phone or buy a phone outright from Sprint (i.e., pay-in-full immediately, no installment plans).

Finally, switching to Sprint will require a credit check, which can sometimes take a while, depending on your situation. The last time Sprint ran this sale many people missed out because their credit check took longer than the time left in the promotion. So if this offer works for you, don’t delay – sign up ASAP so you’re not left in the cold.

You might also be wondering what will happen with this deal if and when the proposed merger with T-Mobile happens. Sprint’s Dow Draper says that he imagines the joint companies would make the “customer-friendly choice” and support the plan for the duration of the life of the line — but he couldn’t give any guarantees.
