Sony finally reveals which Xperia phones will get Android 10
Three months after Google released Android 10, Sony has finally announced which of its devices will receive the update, and when users can expect to see it. To no surprise, the company’s latest flagships — the Xperia 1 and Xperia 5 — will receive the update before the rest of Sony’s qualifying lineup.
The Xperia 1 and Xperia 5 will receive the update sometime this December, while the Xperia 10, 10 Plus, XZ2, XZ2 Compact, XZ2 Premium, and XZ3 will begin getting the update in early 2020. Sony admits timing and availability will vary from device to device and carrier to carrier, so we don’t know precisely how long it will take for all devices to get Android 10.
Sony may be behind the competition in terms of smartphone sales, but its fans have always benefited from timely Android version updates. Though this year’s update to Android 10 may not have come as early as last year’s update to Android 9, it’s still good to see Sony begin rolling it out by the end of the year.
