Original post: Sonic Runners, Sega’s most recent side-scrolling action game, has been available in select regions over the past few weeks during the game’s soft launch. That will change in a few days, though, as Sega has just announced the game will be rolling out to Android devices worldwide this Thursday, June 25th.

As the name suggests, Sonic Runners is a 2D running game featuring some of Sega’s most popular characters including Sonic, Tails and Knuckles. As is the case with most other Sonic games, Sonic Runners features fast gameplay and the standard slew of obstacles including loop-de-loops, jumps and platforms. You’ll even get to face off against the powerful Dr. Eggman. The more rings you collect and levels you complete, the quicker you’ll be able to level up each character. You’ll also need to choose which character is best suited for each level.

Sonic Runners is free-to-play, so you can expect the game to rely heavily on in-app purchases. We’ll be sure to let you know once the game becomes available for everyone.
