Which smart home devices do you own? [Poll of the Week]

Do you own any smart home devices? If so, which ones?

Last week’s poll summary: Out of over 3,800 total votes, 60.2% of our readers said they’re not buying the Galaxy S9 nor the S9 Plus. 20.3% of voters said they’re buying the Galaxy S9 Plus, 6.1% are more interested in the smaller Galaxy S9, while 12.1% are still undecided.

The state of the smart home is in a weird place right now. Every company thinks it has the answer that will make your home life easier, but many people still aren’t on board with the whole “everything needs to be connected” mindset.

If a product has more moving parts, it’s likely to crash more often. The last thing you need is for your smart thermostat to leave you in the cold or for your smart lock to lock you out of your home. It’s these types of stories that make me nervous about going all-in with smart products.

Plus, smart things are generally more expensive than “dumb” things, making it a bit more difficult to justify the added cost. A product needs to save you enough time and effort to warrant that premium price. I think that’s partially why smart speakers are so popular — they can control as much or as little as you want them to, and they make it very easy to stream audio throughout your home.

What smart products do you own — smart speakers, thermostats, plugs, or do you not own any? Cast your vote in the poll attached below.
