Skullgirls fights its way toward the Google Play Store
Are you a fan of punch-em-ups but aren’t particularly satisfied with the current mobile gaming options? Skullgirls might be the option for you. The super stylish fighting game is soon to arrive on Android and iOS, but the mobile version of the game will come with a little extra zest. Instead of just being a straightforward fighter, dev studio Hidden Variable is increasing the number of RPG elements included in the game.
That’s right. Not only will you be able to duke it out with your favorite characters on the go, but now you can collect equipment and upgrade your characters as the story unfolds. This does two things for the mobile version. First, it introduces some new content that might make the game appealing to those who have played it on other platforms. Second, it compensates for the intrinsically slippery controls that plague mobile gaming, allowing you to take advantage of a new “fight assist” option so that you can keep advancing through the game at pace.
According to the developers, Skullgirls on mobile will require “a little extra moxie” to run smoothly. This might mean that only higher end devices will be able to handle its bombastically jiggly animation. No word yet on pricing, so this could be a one-time payment model or the developers might take advantage of the newer RPG elements to introduce in-app purchases.
Skullgirls won’t be out until closer to the end of the year, but we expect we’ll have more details as a launch date approaches. If you want to get in on the beta, head on over to the official website. For now, let us know what you think of this colorful fighter in the comments!
