The top score isn't just for the rear camera, but the front as well, making the Note 10 Plus 5G the top overall choice.

According to the venerable camera review site DxOMark, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus 5G is now the top smartphone camera across the entire industry. It steals the crown away from the HUAWEI P30 Pro, which held the top spot since its launch in March of this year.

The Note 10 Plus 5G’s score for its rear camera tops the P30 Pro’s rear camera by one point (113 against 112 respectively). Additionally, the front camera on the Note 10 Plus 5G now tops the previous record-holder for the selfie cam, too: the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G. That means, according to DxOMark, the Note 10 Plus 5G is now the best overall phone camera you can buy whether you are looking for rear shots or selfies shots.

Although DxOMark performed its camera tests on the 5G variant of the Note 10 Plus, the camera hardware and processor on that device is the same as on the non-5G Galaxy Note 10 Plus. Therefore, it stands to reason that the Note 10 Plus would attain the same score as the 5G model.

However, the camera system in the vanilla Galaxy Note 10 is not the same and would quite likely receive a lower score as compared to the hardware in the Note 10 Plus and Note 10 Plus 5G.

You can see many comparison pics in DxOMark’s full review, but check out these three shots below taken with the Galaxy Note 10 Plus 5G, the HUAWEI P30 Pro, and the Apple iPhone XS Max.

You can see how the Note 10 Plus 5G creates a great mix of light when it comes to this high-contrast shot, while the other two devices leave the subject too dark as compared to the bright background.

Although DxOMark doesn’t take this into account with its score, the Note 10 Plus and Note 10 Plus 5G both come with a Bluetooth-enabled S Pen that allows for remote shutter control as well as gesture controls. This will undoubtedly make the camera system even more powerful on the phone.

In somewhat related news, DisplayMate also posted its summary of the Galaxy Note 10 Plus display. Unsurprisingly, the display received the highest-possible score of A+, while also meeting or setting 13 different display records. Check out that full report here.
