Samsung Galaxy M54 models
  • The Samsung Galaxy M54 has been released in the Middle East.
  • It’s a Galaxy A54 with a bigger battery and higher resolution main camera.
  • It does see a couple of downgrades compared to the Galaxy A54, though.

Samsung just recently launched the Galaxy A54, bringing a squarely mid-range experience to the table. Now, it looks like the company is offering a spin-off in some regions.

Samsung has launched the Galaxy M54 in the Middle East, and it looks like the Galaxy A54 with several tweaks. Perhaps the most notable tweaks are the 108MP main camera with OIS (instead of a 50MP OIS shooter), as well as a 6,000mAh battery instead of a 5,000mAh cell.

It’s unclear whether this 108MP shooter will deliver improved image quality across the board, but we should theoretically see better resolvable detail in ideal conditions. Meanwhile, that 6,000mAh battery should make for a huge difference when it comes to endurance, although we’re still stuck with 25W wired speeds. The product listing also points to 8GB of RAM as standard instead of 6GB or 8GB options.

We don’t see upgrades across the board, though. Samsung has downgraded the two secondary rear cameras, offering an 8MP ultrawide shooter and 2MP macro lens instead of 12MP and 5MP respectively.

You’ve nevertheless got an Exynos 1380 chipset judging by listed clock speeds (2.4GHz and 2GHz), a 6.7-inch 120Hz OLED screen (FHD+), 128GB or 256GB of expandable storage, and a 32MP selfie camera. Other listed specs include Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, Wi-Fi 6, and a lengthy software update pledge (four major OS updates and five years of security patches).

There’s no word on pricing for the Samsung Galaxy M54 just yet, but we hope it’s in line with the Galaxy A5x series though. In saying so, we’re not sure we’ll see this model in a ton of markets as the Galaxy A series tends to have a much bigger geographical footprint than the Galaxy M family.
