Samsung Galaxy M12
TL;DR
  • Samsung has announced the Galaxy M12 in India.
  • The phone packs a 6,000mAh battery and a 90Hz display.
  • It’ll be available in two variants starting March 18.

Samsung’s M series of phones tend to target younger buyers who want both affordability and striking specs. Think of it as the company’s answer to budget phones from Xiaomi and realme. Stepping in to compete with the Redmi Note 10, the new Samsung Galaxy M12 has now launched in India starting at Rs. 10,999 (~$151).

The latest Samsung candidate comes with a 6.5-inch 90Hz Infinity-V LCD screen. Carrying the weight of that high refresh-rate screen is a massive 6,000mAh battery with 15W charging. Together, these two variables make the Samsung Galaxy M12 quite desirable in its price range. In comparison, the Redmi Note 10 offers a smaller 5,000mAh battery, albeit with 33W charging, and a 60Hz OLED screen.

Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy M12 gets the 8nm Exynos 850 processor that we’ve previously seen power Samsung’s A-series phones and recently the Galaxy XCover 5. The chipset is almost two years old and it’s less powerful on paper than the Note 10’s Snapdragon 678 SoC. Although the latter is built on the 11nm process, Qualcomm’s chips usually fare better than Samsung’s in-house silicon.

Elsewhere, the Galaxy M12 offers a quad-camera setup, including a 48MP primary sensor, a 5MP ultra-wide sensor, and two 2MP depth and macro shooters. At the front is an 8MP sensor for selfies.

If you’re interested in the Samsung Galaxy M12, you get to choose between two RAM and storage options. The standard model comes with 4GB RAM + 64GB storage for the aforementioned price. There’s also a 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant that’ll retail for Rs. 13,499 (~$185).

The phone will be available in India across Samsung.com, Amazon, and select retail stores starting March 18.
