TL;DR
  • Samsung has finally launched the Galaxy F22 in India.
  • It has a lot in common with the Galaxy A22 4G, but with a few key differences.
  • The phone retails for under ~$200 in the market.

We first saw the Samsung Galaxy F22 in a Bluetooth SIG filing, with Samsung itself revealing specs last week. Now, the company has officially launched the device in India, and it looks like a very reasonably priced Galaxy phone.

The Galaxy F22 has a few features in common with the previously released Galaxy A22 4G, namely a MediaTek Helio G80 4G processor, a 6.4-inch HD+ 90Hz OLED panel, and a similar quad rear camera system (48MP+8MP+2MP+2MP). But things start to differ when you look a little closer.

For one, the Galaxy F22 has a bigger battery at 6,000mAh versus the A22’s 5,000mAh pack. The new phone also tops out at 25W charging (albeit packing a 15W in-box charger) as opposed to the A22’s 15W charging.

Switching to the camera field, the F22 packs a 13MP selfie camera while the A22 tops out at 16MP. Samsung’s earlier phone also has optical image stabilization on the main camera, but it seems like this feature is missing on the new device.

Other notable features include a side fingerprint scanner, Dolby Atmos support, and One UI 3.1 atop Android 11.

The Samsung Galaxy F22 will be available starting at Rs 12,499 (~$168) for the 4GB/64GB variant, while the 6GB/128GB model will retail for Rs 14,499 (~$195). Expect to find the device at Samsung’s online store, Flipkart, and other participating retail stores from July 13 at midday IST.

This price tag is pretty cheap compared to the Galaxy A22’s Rs 18,499 (~$249) price. So you might want to look at the Galaxy F22 if you want a cheaper, longer-lasting A22.
