TL;DR
  • Samsung is apparently working on four foldable phones for 2021.
  • This comes after rumors that the firm was working on three foldables for next year.
  • Samsung is also said to be working on a rollable phone that could debut after 2021.

We’ve seen a few rumors related to Samsung’s foldable phone line in 2021, and the consensus was that the Korean brand was preparing three foldable phones for launch next year.

Now, Korean-based outlet ET News reports that Samsung actually plans to launch four foldable phones in 2021. The website reports that these devices are two Galaxy Z Fold 3 variants and two Galaxy Z Flip 2 models. The outlet also claims that all four phones will feature 5G connectivity, although this isn’t really surprising given that we’re well into the 5G transition now.

ET News didn’t report on any major differences between the Fold devices, but it claimed that the two Z Flip phones will have “different performance and features.”

Unfortunately, it looks like those hoping for an imminent launch will need to wait a while, as the outlet alleges that all four foldable phones are only scheduled to launch in the second half of 2021. So don’t expect these devices to debut alongside the Galaxy S21 series.

Nevertheless, this latest report of four foldables contrasts with previous rumors, which pointed to three devices. More specifically, it was originally believed that Samsung was going to launch Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Fold Lite, and Galaxy Z Flip 2 models.

ET News also notes that Samsung is working on a rollable phone of its own, but claims that it isn’t part of Samsung’s business plan for 2021. The outlet alleges that Samsung’s rollable design allows the screen to be stretched upwards, which would be a big departure from devices like the OPPO X 2021 rollable concept.
