Redmi's upgraded fitness watch now packs SpO2 smarts, better battery life
- Xiaomi’s Redmi division has announced the Redmi Watch 2.
- The entry-level smartwatch packs plenty of fitness tracking smarts and subtle upgrades over its predecessor.
- This includes onboard GPS, SpO2 tracking, and plenty of additional sport tracking modes.
The original Redmi Watch impressed us greatly with excellent fitness tracking smarts for its low price. Now, its successor, the Redmi Watch 2, is officially hitting shelves in China.
Launched alongside the Redmi Note 11 series, the Redmi Watch 2 keeps the fundamental design of its namesake, including the square face. However, it switches out the dull 1.4-inch LCD panel for a brighter 1.6-inch AMOLED display. Despite this size bump, the watch remains pretty light at 31 grams. Users also get a choice of three body colorways and six strap options.

As with most modern wearables, there’s plenty of fitness tracking smarts to keep casual athletes entertained. The Redmi Watch 2 now includes 100 sport tracking modes, with 17 “professional” sports modes. Built-in GPS makes a welcome return, too, but SpO2 tracking is the big new addition. It can also track blood oxygen levels during sleep, which should make for more intuitive sleep tracking. A heart rate monitor is also included.
The Watch 2 brings 12 days of endurance per charge, largely thanks to a new chipset. Charging is taken care of through a magnetic charging dock.
Redmi Watch 2 price and availability
So how much does the Watch 2 cost? Well, it’s going for 349 yuan (~$55) until October 31, but you’ll need 399 yuan (~$62) to snag the company’s latest wearable after that. That’s 100 yuan (~$16) pricier than the previous model, but that’s seemingly a premium worth paying.
While there’s no word on the Watch 2’s global availability just yet, the original device was priced at Rs 3,999 (~$53) in India. Expect the sequel to come in well under $100 in that region should it make the journey.
