Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi launched the Redmi Note 7 in China earlier this month. During the launch, the company teased the upcoming Redmi Note 7 Pro but gave few details about the device.

Now, a new rumor from smartphone leaker Ishan Agarwal (@ishanagarwal24) suggests that we could finally see the Redmi Note 7 Pro at a launch event in India this coming Thursday, February 28. According to Agarwal, Redmi will launch both the Redmi Note 7 Pro and the regular Note 7 for the Indian market at the event.

Previously, we knew the Redmi Note 7 was coming to the event, but the possible addition of the Pro variant makes it much more exciting.

If this is true, it would line up well with earlier statements from Redmi. According to a social media post from Lu Weibing — general manager of the Redmi brand and a vice president of Xiaomi — the device is scheduled to launch after the Xiaomi Mi 9. That device landed last week on February 20.

The Redmi Note 7 Pro is expected to launch with a 48MP + 5MP dual camera setup on the back, the same as on the Redmi Note 7. It’s also expected to keep the same form factor as the vanilla Note 7, with a 6.3-inch display with a resolution of 2,340 x 1,080. The vanilla Redmi Note 7 is powered by a Snapdragon 660 processor, up to 6GB of RAM, and a 4,000mAh battery, and we expect the Pro variant to have the same or better specs.

We also expect the Redmi Note 7 Pro to launch with Android 9 Pie.

Stay tuned to find out if this rumor proves true!
