Redmi is set to launch its first flagship phone soon, and the Xiaomi-owned sub-brand has now revealed a launch date for the device.

According to a Weibo post from the official Redmi account, the high-end phone will be launched on May 28.

The company has mentioned two more features on Weibo, namely a 48MP camera sensor made by Sony (the IMX586) and a pop-up selfie camera.

This is why 100MP smartphones seem like a terrible idea

The 48MP camera allows consumers to get full-resolution shots during the day, but uses pixel-binning technology to deliver brighter 12MP shots in low light. And if it’s anything like the Redmi Note 7 Pro camera or Xiaomi Mi 9 shooter (both use the IMX586 sensor as well), then we should be in for a very respectable experience.

Meanwhile, the pop-up selfie camera allows Redmi to deliver a full-screen display without using a notch, punch-hole cutout, or slider form factor.

The pop-up camera and 48MP rear shooter aren’t the only confirmed Redmi K20 features we know about. The Xiaomi sub-brand previously confirmed a Snapdragon 855 chipset in the new flagship as well.

We don’t know about any other major features just yet, but if it’s like other Xiaomi phones, you can expect a ton of bang for your buck. What would you like to see from the Redmi K20?
