TL;DR
  • realme has announced the first tablet in BBK Electronics’ ecosystem.
  • The realme Pad is an affordable Android 11 tablet with a 7,100mAh battery.
  • It has both Wi-Fi and LTE variants.

BBK Electronics, the parent company of smartphone brands like OnePlus, OPPO, and realme, finally has a tablet in the market.

Called the realme Pad, the 10.4-inch aluminum alloy slate comes with a WUXGA+ (2,000 × 1,200) display. It features a massive 7,100mAh battery that realme claims can deliver 12 hours of video playback and 65 days of standby time. It also supports 18W charging as well as reverse charging to power up other devices.

While the battery capacity of the realme Pad is impressive and its design resembles that of the iPad Air, don’t expect it to compete with Apple’s tablets. The realme Pad is more of an affordable Android tablet that features the MediaTek Helio G80 chip. The octa-core CPU also powers some budget smartphones from the likes of vivo, Samsung, and others.

Elsewhere, the realme Pad features four speakers with Dolby Atmos certification and an 8MP front camera. There’s a camera at the back too, but realme didn’t reveal its configuration.

The tablet comes in two variants — one with Wi-Fi and the other with 4G connectivity. The Wi-Fi model packs 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Meanwhile, the 4G variant also adds a 4GB RAM + 64GB storage option.

For software, the tablet uses realme UI for Pad based on Android 11. It boasts some handy features for readers, including a dedicated Reading mode, Dark mode, Night mode for lowering brightness in low-light conditions, and Sunlight mode for maximum brightness.

The realme Pad will be available in Real Gray and Real Gold colorways starting at Rs 13,999 (~$190) for the Wi-Fi version, Rs 15,999 (~$217) for the 3/32GB 4G model, and Rs 17,999 (~$244) for the 4/64GB 4G variant. There’s no word on the global availability of the tablet just yet, but the tablet will go on sale in India on September 16.
