A major budget brand has hinted at its first foldable phones
- Realme vice-president Madhav Sheth has hinted at future foldables.
- The executive asked users whether they wanted a Flip or Fold handset.
The global foldable phone market has been dominated by Samsung for several years now. But Oppo and TECNO have both launched competitively priced foldables outside China in recent weeks.
Now, major budget brand realme has hinted at plans for foldable phones too. Realme vice-president Madhav Sheth posted a question on Twitter, asking users whether they wanted a Flip or Fold device.
It’s worth stressing that this isn’t confirmation that realme foldable phones are coming in the near future. It’s entirely possible that Sheth is simply soliciting feedback for foldable development. However, it would be a downer if the company hints at foldables in this fashion but doesn’t have any devices to launch in the coming months.
Would you buy a realme foldable?
Then again, many brands often post these types of questions on social media to generate hype for an upcoming release. So we’ll just have to wait and see if the realme Fold and realme Flip materialize in the near future.
Nevertheless, we’re guessing that any future realme foldables will offer very competitive pricing. After all, the brand historically had a reputation for undercutting rivals. However, it remains to be seen whether these future devices would be based on Oppo’s Find N2 series or if they would be original designs.
