We thought the original model was very unpolished, so hopefully realme has improved things here.

TL;DR
  • realme has launched the realme Band 2 fitness tracker.
  • The wearable is available in Malaysia for ~$42, but will soon launch in India soon, too.

Update: September 24, 2021 (4:55 AM ET): The realme Band 2 has officially launched in India. Keep reading for pricing and availability details below.

Original article: September 15, 2021 (7:15 AM ET): realme announced the realme Band more than a year ago, but we thought there were plenty of better alternatives on the market at the time. Now, the company has gone back to the drawing board and just launched the realme Band 2 (h/t: GSMArena).

Probably the biggest upgrade at first glance is the increased screen size, which has gone from the original’s 0.96-inch color LCD panel to a 1.4-inch screen. This upgrade means you’ve got a device that resembles the HUAWEI Watch Fit and HONOR Band 6 more than anything else.

realme also says you can also expect up to 12 days of endurance compared to 10 days of theoretical battery life with the original band. We’re guessing that real-world usage will be a little lower than 12 days, especially seeing that the original band delivered roughly a week of endurance according to our reviewer Dhruv Bhutani.

As for the health and fitness features, the realme Band 2 brings blood oxygen and heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking and analysis, water resistance down to 50 meters, and support for tracking up to 90 sports modes. Other notable features include Bluetooth 5.1, smartphone controls (e.g. music, camera), period tracking, and stress measurements.

realme Band 2 pricing and availability

The realme Band 2 is available in Malaysia for now and retails for 169 Malaysian Ringgits (~$42). However, the Band 2 is also heading to India and is currently priced at Rs 3,499 (~$47) on Flipkart. Sales kick off on September 27.

Hopefully, realme has polished the tracking and connectivity as these were our chief complaints regarding the original model. Dhruv noted in his realme Band review that activity and heart-rate tracking were both inaccurate, while also finding that data synchronization and app notifications were hit or miss.
