Hit the wastelands with a real working Fallout Pip-Boy

You may recall that Bethesda released a Pip-Boy device based on the popular clunky wearable from the Fallout universe last year, but when it arrived, it turned out just to be an elaborate case for your smartphone, not unlike something you would strap to your arm to go for a jog. Well, this year the game company is bringing us something truly unique. This real life Fallout Pip-Boy: Deluxe Edition has an integrated screen, onboard software and hardware, and it pairs with your smartphone via Bluetooth. It’s essentially the largest smartwatch we’ve ever seen, and the price is $350.

Although not quite as bulky as its video game counterpart appears, the device still weighs in at two pounds. You’re going to enjoy the interior lining of cushioned foam that keeps that weight from chafing your arm. Not all of the knobs and buttons on the device are fully functional, but most of them are. Some details have been re-purposed for modern technology. For instance, the holotape slot is a USB drive. By interacting with the device via these retro controls, you can take calls and read messages and notifications, all through the lens of Fallout-style displays.

These Pip-Boy: Deluxe Edition devices will hit the market in November, but you’re going to want to act quick if you want to pick them up. Bethesda says they’re only going to be making 5,000 of these.
