TL;DR
  • Razer has sent a message to media outlets informing them they should “save the date” for October 10.
  • This will likely be the day Razer officially announces the Razer Phone 2.
  • This will be the successor to the company’s first gaming smartphone that launched in late 2017.

Are you ready to play again? Razer thinks you are. The hardcore game hardware company has just sent out an email to media outlets to let them know they should “save the date” for a reveal coming on October 10. This is almost certainly going to be the official announcement for the Razer Phone 2, which the company has already confirmed is in the works.

This would be the follow-up to the first Razer Phone, which was launched in late 2017. That device was apparently a big success for the company, which previously had concentrated on launching hardware and accessories for the PC and console gaming audience. The first phone included features like a display with a 120Hz refresh rate, along with support for Ultramotion, which allowed the display to have a variable refresh rate for gaming, so games could look as good as they can on the screen. The Razer Phone has since led to a mini-trend of high-end smartphones designed for gaming.

The invite itself (via Droid Life) has an Razer Phone-like outline, which may indicate that the overall design for the Razer Phone 2 will not be a radical departure from the first phone. Recent unconfirmed rumors about the Razer Phone 2 claim it will include the company’s customized Chroma LED effects that it has put in place on its popular series of PC gaming laptops.

Are you looking forward to the possible reveal of the Razer Phone 2 in less than a month?
