Solid POCOphone F2 evidence appears, could be POCO F2 for India

We don't know much about the POCOphone F2, but evidence is mounting that we could see it launch at some point in 2020.

2019 came and went without any launch of a Pocophone F2. We did get the Redmi K20 Pro which was kind of like a Pocophone F1 successor, but it didn’t have the same look or feel. Now, though, we have some solid evidence that there could be a POCOphone F2 in 2020.

As first spotted by Twitter user @_the_tech_guy (h/t GSM Arena), Xiaomi has filed a trademark application for a device named POCO F2. If you’ll remember, Xiaomi branded the POCOphone F1 as the POCO F1 in India, so a POCO F2 trademark application makes perfect sense.

This news comes on the heels of POCOphone head Alvin Tse tweeting a now-deleted message stating that we will “hear more from POCO in 2020.”

If a POCO F2 is in the pipeline for 2020, it would likely come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset, since the POCO F1 came with the Snapdragon 845 when it launched in 2018. However, the Snapdragon 865 chipset has 5G built-in, which would likely make the POCO F2 significantly more expensive than the $300 POCO F1.

It is possible, of course, that the POCO F2 could launch with a different chipset in order to keep the price as low as possible.

Ultimately, we have very few details or even solid rumors regarding the POCOphone F2. All we know at this point is that the head of the company promised we will see something POCO-related in 2020 and that Xiaomi has filed to trademark the name. What do you think will happen?
