TL;DR
  • The POCOphone F1 team confirmed development of dark mode is complete.
  • HD Netflix support is still in the works.
  • The team has worked on a bunch of other bug fixes and tweaks.

It’s a new week, and that means more Pocophone F1 feedback updates.

The Xiaomi MIUI team actively engages users on its forum to keep them abreast of issues it’s working on and solicit ideas for future releases. The most recent stable version, 10.0.6.0.OEJMIFH, was made available on November 24 and since its release, a number of minor problems have persisted. Aware of these issues, the POCOphone team highlighted the ones that it is presently tackling.

The last update optimized fingerprint recognition and brought some visual improvements including more theme options and a home screen layout grid. Now, the team continues to work on popular feature requests such as 4K 60fps recording and HD Netflix support.

Xiaomi confirmed it would introduce these features back in October, but it appears they have proven more difficult to add. This weekend’s forum post states that the team is trying to release HD Netflix in a beta release before the end of the year.

Xiaomi is also addressing critical problems with touchscreen input not registering properly, or in some cases lagging, and “OK Google” occasionally not working. For the next release, it promises to have solved the Android Auto issues plaguing some users and to introduce a dark mode, an incredibly popular request on the forums.

These issues tend to take more than one release to solve, but it’s nice of the team to communicate its efforts via the official forums.

All of these features are powered by Android 8.1 Oreo, raising the question of when Android P will make its way to the F1. Although Xiaomi said in its forum post the Android P open beta would launch in December, it is already possible to install the global beta on your device. MIUI 8.11.15 offers both Recovery ROM and Fastboot ROM options for adventurous users.

The Chinese company has publicly stated it wouldn’t stop with Pie; the POCOphone F1 will also receive Android Q, but if it’s anything like the rollout of Pie, customers should prepare for a long wait.

Xiaomi’s commitment to keeping customers in the loop is commendable, as it works to bring more features and bug fixes to the POCOphone. If you’re using the F1, let us know what you think of the team’s efforts to keep your device solid.
