TL;DR
  • Today, Xiaomi sub-brand POCO launched the POCO M3 Pro 5G.
  • The phone has a pretty stellar spec sheet and a low price of just €180 (~$220).
  • However, the phone is basically a Redmi Note 10 5G, which means this is just another rebranding effort from POCO.

Update: June 8, 2021 (2:30 AM ET): POCO has launched the POCO M3 Pro 5G in India. The brand is selling the 4GB/64GB variant for Rs 13,999 (~$192), while the 6GB/128GB option is priced at Rs 15,999 (~$220). Sales kick off on June 14 on Flipkart, with a further Rs 500 ($7) early bird price cut for devices bought on that day.

Original article: May 19, 2021 (10:44 AM ET): POCO has been on a roll recently, dropping a whole slew of phones. Today, it’s adding yet another device to the roster: the POCO M3 Pro 5G.

As expected, the phone shares some design similarities with the regular POCO M3, which launched in November last year. However, under the hood, the phone is essentially a Redmi Note 10 5G, which came out in select markets last month.

The highlights of the phone are the 90Hz display refresh rate, huge 5,000mAh battery, and Dimensity 700 chipset. While MediaTek gets a lot of flak for its chips, the Dimensity 700 could be pretty powerful for a phone at this price point.

Price and availability

POCO is clearly gunning to keep this phone as cheap as possible. Despite a pretty decent list of specs, the phone starts at just €180 (~$220) for the 4GB/64GB model. If you want to upgrade your storage and RAM to the 6GB/128GB variant, you’ll pay a bit more at €200 (~$245).

Early birds can save even more, with POCO slashing €20 off the above prices if you can get in fast enough. Unfortunately, it looks like Amazon is selling the phone at a slightly higher cost, with only the 6GB model available for €229.

Stellar specs, low price
The POCO M3 Pro 5G has a few very notable specs, including a 90Hz refresh rate and an enormous battery. It's not the most powerful phone ever (and its camera is a little lacking), but the incredibly low price is a fair trade-off.

As far as availability goes, Europe is first in line. However, POCO promises it will land in its other usual markets soon.
