Android 11 DP2 redesigns Pixel's Styles & Wallpaper feature

The new Android 11 Developer Preview introduces a new version of Pixel Themes, which adds lockscreen clock customization.

The new Android 11 Developer Preview 2 build is now available to download for its supported Pixel devices. As it turns out, Pixel phone owners will get to check out a revamped version of the Pixel Themes feature with this release.

The Styles & Wallpapers customization option on Pixel devices now shows a “Clock” icon at the bottom. That likely indicates that the lockscreen for the OS will soon fully support a customize clock visual. Right now, only the default clock design is available. Considering it has been added to the Styles & Wallpapers section, we can hopefully expect Google to add more custom functionality to this feature in the near future.

In addition to the new (albeit non-functional) clock option, the Styles & Wallpaper section of Android 11 DP2 has a new look for the main wallpaper section. You can now see larger screenshots on the current wallpaper and lockscreen. There are also different categories of wallpaper you can browse through. Just swipe up to see the different types of wallpaper categories. While there are pre-installed designs to choose from, there’s also a category called “My Photos” that lets you pick from your own camera roll.
