TL;DR
  • Google’s Circle to Search feature is slated to arrive on the Pixel Tablet next month.
  • Circle to Search allows you to quickly highlight on-screen content and trigger a relevant Google search.
  • The Pixel Tablet will now be available for purchase without the speaker dock.

The Pixel tablet is back in the news after a year of its launch. As previously rumored, Google has confirmed the tablet will soon be offered as a standalone device without the speaker dock. And that’s not all — the innovative Circle to Search feature is also finally making its way to the device.

Circle to Search grants users more control over on-screen information with unparalleled convenience. A simple press and hold on the bottom navigation bar activates the feature. From there, circling or highlighting desired content triggers a targeted Google search, delivering relevant results within moments.

We recently reported about a user receiving the feature on their Pixel Tablet, which was running on Android 15 Beta 1.2. Pixel Tablet owners can expect Circle to Search to officially arrive via an OTA update.

Circle to Search first appeared on the Samsung Galaxy S24 series in January and was added to Google’s Pixel 8 series soon after. Since then, it has quickly found its way onto a wide range of devices. In late March, the feature landed on older Google Pixel models (6, 6 Pro, 6a, and 7a), alongside a major wave of Galaxy AI updates for Samsung’s newest devices, including the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Z Fold 5.

While there was speculation that Google might also announce new Pixel Tablet accessories alongside the standalone option, Google hasn’t revealed any such plans. There’s still a chance we could see accessory-related announcements at Google’s I/O conference next week.

The standalone Pixel Tablet will retail in the US for $399. Preorders start May 7, and the device will hit shelves in the US, UK, and other European countries on May 14.
