System updates are one of the most important aspects of the modern smartphone experience, giving manufacturers a way to fix bugs and add new features over time.

Update commitments vary wildly by manufacturer and device model, but we want to know when was the last time your phone received an update. This can be an OS update, a security patch, or even just a small update focused on optimizations. Just to be clear, we’re not talking about app updates via the Google Play Store or other app stores. Some companies might offer up to four or five years of updates for some phones, which means chances are good that you received an update in the past month if you’ve got one of these devices. Then there are some manufacturers that only issue a year or two of patches or even nothing at all.
