What if Transformers were phones? These new rugged phones with big batteries give us a glimpse

Oukitel has long been one of the go-to brands if you wanted a rugged smartphone with a huge battery. The company will be at IFA 2026, and it’s now revealed two brand-new rugged phones ahead of the expo.

The Oukitel WP600 is marketed as a “rugged smartphone for gamers.” It certainly looks like a thick gaming phone at first glance, owing to the Transformers-like yellow and black color scheme, customizable RGB lights, and metal elements. The phone also has IP68/IP69K ratings and MIL-STD-810H certification.

The WP600 is powered by a mid-range Dimensity 8300 chipset, but Oukitel is also bringing a “dual-fan” active cooling system. This should ensure stable performance when playing more demanding games and emulators. Otherwise, that’s pretty much as far as the gaming additions go. So those expecting shoulder buttons might be disappointed.

Oukitel’s phone also packs a 10,000mAh battery (as you’d expect from the brand), 45W charging, a maximum of 24GB RAM and 1TB storage, and a 6.8-inch 120Hz FHD+ screen (there’s no word if this is LCD or OLED). Other features include a 108MP main camera, a privacy switch to toggle the camera/mic/GPS, and eSIM support.

The ‘slimmest’ 16,000mAh rugged phone

We’ve also seen phones with silicon-carbon batteries in recent years, and the Oukitel WP70 Ultra hops on this trend too. Oukitel claims that this is the slimmest 16,000mAh rugged phone, although it still looks extremely thick compared to even 10,000mAh phones from the likes of HONOR, realme, and Xiaomi. In fact, it measures 16.4mm thick.

Other notable features include a low-end Dimensity 7200 chipset, 66W wired charging, a 6.78-inch 120Hz OLED screen, a 108MP main camera, a 64MP night vision camera, and thermal imaging. The phone is available in Black with your choice of Green, Orange, or Purple color accents.

Unfortunately, there’s no word on pricing and availability for the WP600 or WP70 Ultra. The combination of a rugged design, cooling fan, and large battery makes the WP600 an interesting choice if you want a tough phone with stable gaming performance. But I also imagine that the WP70 Ultra will gain at least a few fans due to the 16,000mAh battery in a slimmer (but still chunky and tough) form factor.
