Oppo’s Reno series has been around since 2019, usually targeting the mid-range segment and offering slick designs. Now, the company has launched the OPPO Reno 8 Pro in global markets, so what should you expect?

Perhaps the standout feature is the phone’s design, bringing the OPPO Find X5 Pro to mind. It offers a rear cover and camera bump made out of the same piece of glass, but you’re also getting flat edges here. This design is identical to the OPPO Reno 8 Pro Plus, which launched in China earlier this year.

More than just a great design?

The Reno 8 Pro shares more than just looks with the Reno 8 Pro Plus. It also has the same spec sheet, such as an upper mid-range MediaTek Dimensity 8100-Max processor, a 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz OLED screen, a 4,500mAh battery, and 80W wired charging speeds.

Switching to the photography field, the device has OPPO’s in-house MariSiliconX imaging chip. The company says this chip is used for better low-light 4K video, improved 4K HDR video, and higher quality selfies.

The Reno 8 Pro features a triple rear camera system, consisting of a 50MP IMX766 main camera, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP macro shooter. Look at the front and you’ve got a 32MP IMX709 RGBW camera for selfies.

Other noteworthy features include Bluetooth 5.3, Color OS 12.1 atop Android 12, dual stereo speakers, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and Wi-Fi 6.

OPPO said the Reno 8 Pro will be available in India for Rs 45,999 (~$575). This makes it pricier than last year’s Reno 7 Pro, which we criticized for its poor value at Rs 39,999 (~$500) in our review.

The company also offered the standard Reno 8 for Rs 29,999 (~$375), packing a Dimensity 1300 chipset, a 6.43-inch 90Hz OLED screen, and a 50MP+8MP+2MP rear camera system. It also comes with a 4,500mAh battery and 80W wired charging.

Finally, the manufacturer served up the iPad-inspired OPPO Pad Air, bringing a Snapdragon 680, 4GB of RAM, 64GB to 128GB of storage, a 7,100mAh battery, and a 10.6-inch 2K LCD screen. The tablet starts at Rs 16,999 (~$213) for the 64GB model.
