You told us: The OPPO Find N smartphone display is a winner

OPPO is expected to launch the Find N foldable phone later this week, but it gave us an official peek at the device as part of a teaser video last week. The clip shows a foldable phone with a much smaller smartphone display than the likes of the Galaxy Z Fold 3.

We wanted to know what readers thought of this smaller display. Is it a step in the right direction for more ergonomic foldables or do you prefer Samsung’s larger smartphone screen? That’s what we asked you, and here’s how you responded.

What do you think of the OPPO Find N’s smartphone display?

We posted the poll on Thursday December 9, with almost 1,100 votes counted to date. And it turns out that the overwhelming majority of respondents say they like the OPPO Find N’s smartphone display.

It’s easy to see why many voters like OPPO’s foldable in this regard, as the compact smartphone screen seems to make for a smaller, more ergonomic foldable in general. After all, the size and heft of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is one of the main criticisms of the device. Furthermore, we haven’t seen many compact smartphone displays in general this year, save for the likes of the ASUS Zenfone 8.

On the other hand, ~12% of polled readers say they hate the Find N’s smartphone display. At least one reader comment suggests that the smaller smartphone display will affect the size of the internal folding screen, putting it between the Z Flip and Z Fold series.

Comments

  • 😐: I hate it I’ve always hated the fold I always liked the flip better.
  • duckofdeath: The promo is shot in so little light you can barely see it. I wonder why?  If it’s cheap it might sell. The problem is that it’s putting itself between the chairs with the smaller size. It’s no Flip contender and it’s too small to be a direct alternative to the Fold.
  • boo Jay: If the width of the phone folded is 65mm or less, then I’m sold. Will ditch my Galaxy Fold in a heartbeat.
  • edwinc: Seems like same 4:3 screen ratio as a Surface Duo2? I prefer this over Fold3 coz it’s too narrow when folded .
  • meh…: So a OnePlus reference design maybe?

Thanks for voting in our poll and leaving a comment. Would you buy the OPPO Find N if it had the same price tag as the Galaxy Z Fold 3? Let us know via the comments section.
