Did this survey just reveal the OnePlus Z specs and price point?
- An alleged survey might have leaked the OnePlus Z specs.
- The phone could feature a 90Hz display, a Snapdragon 765 SoC, and a low price point.
- However, these specs have been called into question by other leakers.
An alleged survey might have just outed all the major OnePlus Z specs. First spotted by folks over at XDA Developers (via DesiDime.com), the survey was apparently distributed on the Payback platform — a multi-brand loyalty program in India. It asks users if they would be interested in buying a 5G-enabled Snapdragon 765 OnePlus phone priced at Rs 24,990 (~$330).
The OnePlus Z is rumored to feature the Snapdragon 765 chipset, making it the second OnePlus phone after the OnePlus X to hit the mid-range mark. This alone strongly suggests that the aforementioned survey is talking about OnePlus Z. Other specs mentioned in the survey also line up with previous OnePlus Z leaks.
The survey claims this unnamed OnePlus phone will get a 6.55-inch 90Hz Super AMOLED display with an in-display fingerprint scanner. The 90Hz screen is something that’s obvious because OnePlus confirmed long back it’ll use high refresh rate displays for all its phones. The display size and the inclusion of the under-screen fingerprint sensor also match what we’ve seen on the OnePlus 8, although I was personally rooting for a more compact form factor.
Elsewhere, the survey mentions a 64MP + 16MP + 2MP triple rear camera setup in contrast to the previously rumored 48MP + 16MP + 12MP rear camera trio. We’re guessing the 16MP and 2MP sensors are the same ultra-wide and macro sensors found on the OnePlus 8. The latter could also be a depth sensor.
Other supposed specs include a 4,300mAh battery with 30W fast charging. Once again, this could be the same 30W Warp Charge tech found on the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, though previously leaked information suggested a 4,000mAh battery.
Lastly, the survey points to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage as opposed to 8GB RAM and 28GB/256GB storage rumored earlier.
We’re not certain if the specs mentioned in the survey are accurate. But if they are, the OnePlus Z could give the likes of Xiaomi and realme a run for their money. It could even eat up some of the market share acquired by Samsung’s more affordable A series phones. Moreover, if the OnePlus Z comes in at that alleged $330 price, it could also get the jump on Google’s Pixel 4a, or even the rumored Pixel 5. Though it’s also possible the OnePlus Z could launch for closer to $400 in the US.
According to tipster Maz J, these OnePlus Z specs are not correct. He doesn’t say how exactly they differ from the actual specs of the phone, but since he’s a well-known voice, we might as well take the specs mentioned in the survey with a pinch of salt.
I’m sorry to say that but… the specs are not correct. https://t.co/W75ZysQFPj— Max J. (@MaxJmb) June 8, 2020
Whatever may or may not happen, the future of the mid-range smartphone segment seems very exciting and we can’t wait to see what’s in store.
