TL;DR
  • The OnePlus Nord 2 CE’s specs may have just leaked.
  • Expect a MediaTek Dimensity 900 chipset and faster wired charging.

The OnePlus Nord CE launched earlier this year, essentially being a cut-down version of the great OnePlus Nord released last year. We thought the original Nord and devices like the Redmi Note 10 Pro were more attractive propositions for most, but it looks like OnePlus could be taking another stab at the Nord CE series.

91mobiles and tipster Yogesh Brar have now detailed apparent specs for a OnePlus device code-named Ivan. The duo believes that this is the OnePlus Nord 2 CE. So what should you expect, then?

For starters, it’s claimed that the device will launch with a Dimensity 900 5G SoC. This chipset delivers newer heavyweight CPU cores compared to the Snapdragon 750G’s SoC, as well as a cut-down version of the Mali-G78 GPU found in the Exynos 2100 and Google Tensor chips. The new chipset also brings AV1 decoding and Bluetooth 5.2 as upgrades over the Qualcomm processor.

What else should you expect?

Otherwise, the OnePlus Nord 2 CE is said to gain a 6.4-inch 90Hz OLED panel, 6GB to 12GB of RAM, 128GB or 256GB of storage, and a 4,500mAh battery with 65W charging. The latter figure would be a significant wattage upgrade over the original model’s 30W charging, although we found that the Nord CE still delivered a full charge in under 50 minutes.

It looks like the camera specs might be unchanged over the original model though, as the new phone is tipped to gain a 64MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide lens, and 2MP macro camera. A 16MP sensor is purportedly handling video calls and selfies.

Last year’s model missed out on an alert slider, and 91mobiles reports that the new device won’t be getting this feature either. That’s a real shame for long-time OnePlus fans, but the purported presence of a 3.5mm port might provide some consolation.

As for launch details, it’s believed that the phone could launch in India by the end of January or mid-February. The tipster suggests a price of Rs 24,000 to Rs 28,000 (~$317 to ~$370).
