OnePlus' Android 17 update is rolling out to older flagships

Android 17 is no longer just a treat for OnePlus’ newest devices. After the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4 got the ball rolling, the update is now reaching more phones, including last year’s OnePlus 13 series. The rollout has started in India, bringing US owners one step closer to their turn.

OnePlus has confirmed stable ColorOS 17 updates for the OnePlus 13, 13R, 13s, and 15R through separate posts on its community forums. That means the Android 17 rollout is already expanding beyond the first two devices, which received their updates ahead of the previously announced October 29 release date.

The OnePlus 13 is receiving build CPH2649_17.0.0.102(EX01), while the OnePlus 13R is getting CPH2691_17.0.0.105(EX01). Meanwhile, the OnePlus 13s has build CPH2723_17.0.0.101(EX01), and the newer OnePlus 15R is picking up CPH2767_17.0.0.106(EX01). All four updates are rolling out in batches, so they won’t necessarily reach every eligible device at once.

The new software introduces redesigned Quick Settings and notifications, smoother animations, smarter memory management, and more AI-powered tools. The changelogs also mention features designed to spot AI-generated voices in suspicious calls and potential face swaps during video chats.

This isn’t merely an Android version bump. OnePlus is also replacing OxygenOS with ColorOS, a change that might sound dramatic but should feel less unfamiliar given how much the two software experiences already share.

The timing is encouraging for US users. OnePlus sold the 13, 13R, and 15R in the US, but not the OnePlus 13s. Although the company hasn’t confirmed when Android 17 will reach American users, the expanding rollout in India suggests a wider release may be on the horizon.
