By this point, you’ve probably had a chance to read our OnePlus 8T review to find out how the phone compares to its predecessor, the OnePlus 8. But if you’re still on the fence about whether an upgrade makes sense, our own Gary Sims is here to help with the latest Speed Test G challenge.
Despite the two phones both featuring the same Snapdragon 865 chipset, the benchmarks don’t play out how you might think they would in his OnePlus 8T vs OnePlus 8 comparison. After taking an initial lead, the OnePlus 8T ultimately loses the contest to the older OnePlus 8. In the end, the difference is small, but the 8 consistently completes the testing suite in 2.1 seconds less than the 8T.
Keep in mind benchmarks don’t provide a full picture of how a phone performs in day-to-day use. Putting the two phones side-by-side, most people would come away with the impression the 8T was the faster phone with its 120Hz refresh rate display, but the results help highlight how little has changed between the two devices.
