OnePlus is making a limited edition Cyberpunk 2077 version of the OnePlus 8T

OnePlus recently announced the OnePlus 8T in China and there was a surprise announcement at the event that we weren’t expecting. The company has partnered up with Polish video game developer CD Projekt Red for a special Cyberpunk 2077 edition of the OnePlus 8T.

OnePlus showed off bits of the upcoming OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition at its China launch event for the phone. However, it’s hard to tell what’s so special about the phone. The image OnePlus presented on stage shows a phone with yellow Cyberpunk-ish borders. We’re not sure if this is just a graphical representation based on the upcoming game’s theme or if the phone will actually have some cool yellow borders or edges that light up with the color.

What we do know is that this special Cyberpunk 2077 version of the OnePlus 8T will go up on pre-sale starting November 4. OnePlus also posted a video teaser for the phone on its Weibo account. You can check it out below.

This isn’t the first time OnePlus has released a special edition flagship phone. We’ve previously seen the company partner with McLaren, Star Wars, and Marvel to release phones with stand-out designs. However, this is the first time OnePlus is tying up with a gaming studio for a version of its flagship phone.

During the phone’s announcement, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau said (machine translated) that its design took a high-level of coordination with the CD Projekt Red team. Lau has promised to reveal more details after two weeks.

For what it’s worth, we expect to see some dedicated gaming features on the OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 edition. It would also make sense for OnePlus to upgrade the phone’s processor to the Snapdragon 865 Plus and/or deliver more RAM or storage for a performance boost. Sadly, there’s no word from the company on the matter just yet.
