OnePlus teases McLaren announcement on October 10

It looks like OnePlus is indeed readying a second McLaren edition smartphone.

OnePlus and McLaren are working on a follow-up to the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition.

OnePlus announced the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition last year, offering more RAM and faster charging compared to the standard variant. It looks like the partnership is back together a year later, as the Chinese brand has teased another announcement.

OnePlus confirmed on Twitter that a McLaren-related announcement will take place on October 10. The company previously confirmed a London event on this date, where it’s tipped to announce the OnePlus 7T Pro. Therefore, it seems likely that a OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition smartphone will be announced on the day as well. A teaser video uploaded by OnePlus (and seen below) doesn’t show off any McLaren Formula One cars though.

It’s also worth noting that you can hear someone saying, “gentlemen, start your engines,” in the clip, which was a famous Indy 500 tradition. We’re not expecting a phone based on McLaren’s Indy 500 car though, as it embarrassingly failed to qualify at this year’s running.

An earlier leak suggests we could be looking at a black and orange device that’s rather similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro. Last year’s OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition also offered 30W charging, 10GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. So hopefully this year’s McLaren also packs a little extra compared to the standard smartphone.

What would you like to see from the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition?
