Swedish retailer lists 'Ultimate Limited Edition' of OnePlus 6T, only 100 copies
- A Swedish retailer lists something called the OnePlus 6T “Ultimate Limited Edition” on its website.
- Although the listing doesn’t explain what is included with this edition, it does show the box art and says it is limited to 100 copies.
- The listing also claims the package will go on sale before the OnePlus 6T launch on October 30.
There are a lot of “firsts” coming with the OnePlus 6T: the first OnePlus device with an in-display fingerprint sensor; the first without a headphone jack; the first to launch with T-Mobile support; and the first to launch with Android 9 Pie.
Now we have news of a different possible first: the first to launch in an Ultimate Limited Edition package.
The OnePlus 6T Ultimate Limited Edition is listed now at Swedish retailer site Webhallen. The listing is quite mysterious (we don’t know what it contains) but the text description makes it clear the package includes a “OnePlus 6T as well as a host of secret things” and is limited to only 100 copies.
Here is the box art shown with the listing:
Now, we won’t kid you: this seems very suspect. While the box art looks very official with the OnePlus logo and the officially-advertised logo for the OnePlus 6T, it could easily be faked. In addition, the retailer refusing to explain what’s actually in the box makes us feel like this isn’t an official OnePlus product but rather something this individual retailer is putting together.
However, OnePlus does release limited edition versions of its devices. For example, the OnePlus 5T had a Star Wars variant, and the OnePlus 6 had an Avengers-themed variant. With that in mind, it’s not completely out-of-the-question OnePlus would put something like this together.
If this OnePlus 6T Ultimate Limited Edition is real, it will likely contain the maxed-out specs version of the OnePlus 6T (probably 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage) as well as some OnePlus accessories, such as cases, screen protectors, and maybe even the updated version of the OnePlus Bullets Wireless. However, since the listing doesn’t say what’s inside, that’s all speculation at this point.
If you want to try to buy this Ultimate Limited Edition set, you’ll be able to place your order on October 25 — five days before the official launch of the device on October 30. You’ll have to be quick though, as the site says there will only be 100 copies.
What do you think? Is this a legitimate, OnePlus-branded product, or is this site trying to drum up sales with some fake box art? Let us know your theories in the comments.
