TL;DR
  • OnePlus announced a closed beta program for the OnePlus 6T.
  • The program is limited to 100 people and has certain requirements that must be met in order for you to be eligible.

With the OnePlus 6T almost a month old, OnePlus announced a closed beta program for its latest flagship smartphone that will exist alongside the open beta and official builds.

As the name suggests, the closed beta program lets a certain number of people play around with OxygenOS builds weeks or months before everyone else. Because of that, closed beta members must sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) with OnePlus before they are part of the program.

Closed beta programs are nothing new for OnePlus — the company announced similar programs for older OnePlus smartphones like the OnePlus 6. This time around, OnePlus 6T owners have a closed beta program to call their own.

OnePlus said it will accept 100 people into the OnePlus 6T’s closed beta program. To be eligible, you must own a OnePlus 6T, be an active member of OnePlus’ online community, and be willing to constantly provide feedback and communicate with OnePlus on Slack.

Also keep in mind that you must flash builds as they arrive, with some occasions requiring a clean flash. That will result in data loss, so make sure to back your stuff up before you flash any software.

Lastly, testing out early software inevitably means dealing with an unknown number of bugs. It would be wise to use the OnePlus 6T as a secondary smartphone if you plan to join the closed beta program.
