- OnePlus announced Open Beta 6 for the OnePlus 6.
- The new beta includes several software features originally announced for the OnePlus 6T, including Nightscape and gesture improvements.
- Open Beta 6 will be available as an OTA for OnePlus 6 devices currently running beta software.
The OnePlus 6T might be the new kid on the block, but OnePlus did not forget about the OnePlus 6. The company announced Open Beta 6, which includes several features originally found in the OnePlus 6T.
First up is a new navigation gesture that lets you swipe up with a flick to the right to quickly switch between your two most recent apps. This is very similar to how you bring up the app switcher on recent iPhones. The new navigation gesture also slightly differs from the one you use to bring up the general app overview, which has you swiping up and pausing for about half a second.
Open Beta 6 also introduces the new Nightscape Mode. Announced during yesterday’s OnePlus 6T launch event, Nightscape promises improved clarity, less noise, and improved color reproduction and dynamic range in low-light situations. Alongside Nightscape is the new upgraded portrait mode found on the OnePlus 6T which detect faces and simulate professional lighting.
Next is a feature that’s pretty simple, but still nice: a new About Phone screen. The revamped layout neatly presents basic information on the OnePlus 6 and now looks like a small spec table you might find on product labels at a retail store. The new About Phone screen also displays software information, such as the OxygenOS version, Android version, and more.
Finally, Open Beta 6 includes various improvements to the screenshot experience, improvements to the Gallery app, and the November 2018 security patch.
We will update this article once OnePlus provides a download link for Open Beta 6 for the OnePlus 6. That being said, those already running beta software will receive Open Beta 6 as an OTA.
