Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus Back Angle

It’s not uncommon for consumers to keep their smartphones for two to three years these days, as even older phones are still pretty reliable and do the job well enough. But it’s always fun upgrading to a new device, whether it’s via a contract upgrade or taking the prepaid route.

That does make us wonder what Android Authority readers do with their old phone when they’ve bought a new one. So let us know by voting in the poll below!

Personally, I’ve kept my old Samsung Galaxy S8 in the cupboard and brought it out of storage when I needed to check something Samsung-related for the website. Although a friend is actually loaning the device right now for VR purposes.

But there are plenty of ways to repurpose an old smartphone though. An old device can be used as a smart display, a gaming/streaming platform when hooked up to a large screen, a security camera, a media server, and more.

We don’t blame you if you’ve sold or traded in your old phone either, as trade-ins in particular can help soften the blow of a new smartphone purchase.
