Every smartphone teaser should have cute kittens, just like this one

If you're going to try to use cute cats to entice us to watch your smartphone teaser, congratulations: it worked.

TL;DR
  • The new teaser video for the nubia REDMAGIC 7 features tons of adorable kitties.
  • You can see the phone a few times in the video, but they appear quickly and then vanish.
  • The next gaming phone from the brand should have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 under the hood.

Smartphone teaser videos are nothing new. We see them all the time from pretty much every major brand. They usually involve dramatic music, shadowy closeups of various hardware elements, and tech buzzwords flashing across the screen.

Thankfully, the newest teaser for the nubia REDMAGIC 7 breaks from that tradition. Instead of all that melodrama, we simply have cats. Lots of cats. Lots of adorable kitties running around just doing cat stuff. It certainly is a less pompous way to tease your new product.

The video first appeared on Weibo, but we’ve mirrored it above for you.

Besides all the cute fluffy cats, you do also get to see some quick glimpses of the REDMAGIC 7. The gaming phone has a purple variant that looks pretty classy, and you can clearly see the air triggers on the side of the device. If you don’t blink, you can even see the full backside of the phone at the end of the teaser — but it’s only on screen for a second or two. That variant is black, so it looks like there would be at least two color variants for the phone.

The rumor mill suggests the nubia REDMAGIC 7 might have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset under the hood, which would make it a powerful gaming machine. Other rumored specs include a 6.8-inch FHD+ OLED display, up to 16GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of internal storage.

You can expect the REDMAGIC 7 to land sometime in the next few weeks. Stay tuned!
