Nokia 'Captain America' could be the super soldier HMD needs in 2020
Nokia brand licensee HMD Global has already announced an event in Barcelona as part of MWC 2020 festivities. We’re expecting to see several mid-range devices at the launch, and it looks like one of them may have broken cover.
Dependable tipster Evan Blass has leaked a Nokia phone on Twitter (private account), apparently touting the code-name Captain America. Or it could be an unofficial name due to the shield-like camera housing. Check out the images below.
Blass adds that the phone could potentially be the Nokia 5.2, saying it offers 6GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage. The leaker hasn’t shared much in the way of other details (e.g. processor and battery), but the pictures also show a quad rear camera combo, rear fingerprint scanner, a waterdrop notch, and TA-1234 model number.
Otherwise, the veteran leaker says the new phone will launch on March 4 for ~$180. If the price and name is confirmed, that would be a steep drop compared to its predecessor, the Nokia 5.1. The previous device launched at MWC 2019, packing a 219 euro (~$253) price tag. It’s also possible that it belongs to a different device series, owing to the amount of RAM and storage, as well as the number of cameras.
The apparent Nokia Captain America price seems very competitive for a device with a quad rear camera setup then, but hopefully the rest of the phone is pretty decent too. We’ll just have to wait until HMD’s MWC 2020 event to get all the official details.
