- Nokia 7 Plus users have reported receiving another Android 9 Pie beta.
- The latest beta does not appear to have many changes and is said to be stable.
- HMD Global still seems to be on track to send out the official version of Android Pie in September.
HMD Global has reportedly sent out another OTA Android 9.0 Pie beta to Nokia 7 Plus users. The update comes despite HMD Global Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas suggesting on Twitter that the version released in early August would be the last one before the official Android Pie release.
The changes in the latest version, labeled V3.190, appear to be minimal. According to a Google Plus Post spotted by Android Police, the update includes the September security patch, a non-removable “At a Glance” widget on the home screen, data arrows inside the Wi-Fi icon in the status bar, and support for the aptX Bluetooth codec. The user also suggested that the update is “stable enough.”
While Nokia 7 Plus users may be disappointed that this isn’t the final version of Android Pie, they are unlikely to get much sympathy from other Android users.
Back in August, Sarvikas said that the Nokia 7 Plus will be the first HMD Global device to get Android P. Despite the apparent setback, the company is well on track to deliver the official version in September, as per its target. On the other hand, if the Oreo update schedule is anything to go by, the majority of Android users won’t get Android 9 Pie until late this year at the earliest.
