Motorola launches the Moto G Stylus 5G (2023) with a new camera setup
- Motorola has launched the slightly more premium 5G version of the Moto G Stylus.
- The Moto G Stylus 5G comes with a 5,000mAh battery and a 6.6-inch FHD+ display.
- The Moto G Stylus 5G will run on a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor.
At the beginning of this month, Motorola launched three new phones, one of which was the budget-tier Moto G Stylus (2023). Now the company is launching one more phone before the month ends. That phone is the Stylus’s slightly more premium sibling — the Moto G Stylus 5G (2023). Here’s everything you need to know about the latest hardware from Motorola.
Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G (2023): Design
As the name would suggest, this year’s Moto G Stylus 5G shares a lot in common with its non-5G sibling. For the most part, the design only differs in size, being 0.1 inches bigger than the Moto G Stylus, totaling 6.6 inches. The colorways also differ on this model, offering your choice of Cosmic Black or Champagne. Other than that, you likely won’t be able to tell the two phones apart from each other.
While this year’s Moto G Stylus 5G may look a lot like its sibling, there’s a bigger difference between it and its predecessor. This year’s model is 0.2 inches smaller, which may make it fit more easily in your hand. Motorola also appears to have changed the camera setup. The new model only has two rear cameras this time around and, as such, also has a smaller camera island.
Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G (2023): Cameras
In probably the biggest change from 2022, the new model features two rear cameras instead of three. It looks like Motorola chose to put the depth sensor on the chopping block in 2023. Now consumers will get a phone with just a main camera and an ultrawide lens.
For the main sensor, you can expect a 50MP camera, while the ultrawide offers 8MP with macro capabilities. This phone has about 56% larger pixels than the previous generation. And we can’t forget about the selfie camera, which comes in at a familiar 16MP.
Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G (2023): Specs
Another area where the Moto G Stylus 5G and its sibling share a lot in common is the specs. Both feature a 5,0oomAh battery, Dolby Atmos, and a display with a 120Hz refresh rate. However, there are a few key points where they differ.
Starting with the display, this phone has an FHD+ screen instead of an HD+ display. Storage-wise, the Moto G Stylus 5G comes with 4GB of RAM and 256GB of storage (expandable up to 2TB). It also has a more powerful chip inside of it, a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. Last but not least, Motorola gave this handset NFC capabilities.
Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G (2023): Availability, price, and updates
Being one of Motorola’s budget-tier phones, you won’t have to spend an arm and a leg to get this handset. The Moto G Stylus 5G (2023) will cost $399.99. And with that purchase, you’ll get one year of software updates and three years of security patches.
In the US, the device will first be available at Cricket on June 2. It will later come to AT&T, T-Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile, Google Fi Wireless, US Cellular, Consumer Cellular, Optimum Mobile, Spectrum Mobile, Xfinity Mobile, Boost Infinite, and Boost Mobile. The universally unlocked version can be purchased from Amazon, Best Buy, and Motorola.com on June 16.
If you live in Canada, the Moto G Stylus 5G (2023) will be available on Motorola.ca and through select carriers and national retailers. However, you’ll have to wait a few months before you can pick one up.
