TL;DR
  • Microsoft has rebranded its Your Phone app with two different names across the PC and the Play Store.
  • The app also has a new design to match the aesthetics of Windows 11.

Microsoft’s handy Your Phone app now has a new name. Actually, two different names.

Microsoft announced a rebrand and redesign of the Your Phone app on Thursday. If you want to download it on your Windows PC, you’ll now find it by the name Phone Link. While the new branding makes more sense than the non-descript Your Phone moniker, it is still a bit confusing because the Android version of the app has an entirely different name.

If you go hunting for Your Phone on, well, your Android phone, you’ll find that the app is called Link To Windows on the Play Store. It is the same as what Samsung calls the built-in feature on its recent Galaxy devices.

Why couldn’t Microsoft stick to one uniform name across the PC and the Play Store? Maybe another rebranding is just the thing it needs. Or at the very least, the company could choose one name across the board.

Nevertheless, the new Phone Link app on your Windows PC also has a redesigned interface. It gets a new tabbed navigation. Notifications are placed upfront for better visibility. The app also stores messages, photos, calls, and apps in a new navigation bar on top.

The colors of the app match Windows 11‘s design scheme, with new icons, controls, and illustrations.

Furthermore, the next Windows 11 update will allow you to set up Phone Link by scanning a QR code.
