LG Phoenix 2 rises from the ashes with a price tag of just $100

The name Phoenix is something that should evoke a powerful force (or technically a bird) rising out of the ashes in triumph. That’s not exactly what AT&T and LG had in mind with the original Phoenix, which offered relatively uninspiring specs including a 600MHz processor and 3.2-inch display when it debuted in 2011. With the announcement of the AT&T GoPhone exclusive LG Phoenix 2 are we finally going to get a handset worthy of the mythological name? Probably not, but with Marshmallow onboard, AT&T’s budget-friendly handset doesn’t sound too bad.

Unfortunately AT&T is being a bit coy when it comes to divulging all the key specs for the Phoenix 2, only officially revealing that it has a 5-inch display, 8MP rear cam, 5MP front cam, a 2125 mAh battery, Android 6.0, and a wallet-friendly price of just $100. At the price, we aren’t expecting much, but the AT&T GoPhone device could be a great device for those looking for something super affordable, particularly teens with tight budgets or parents looking to pick up a cheap phone for their young ones.

The Phoenix 2 will be available for online purchase sometime today (though its currently not) and will hit retailers May 14th. For those that would rather pick it up from a brick-and-mortar AT&T store, you’ll be able to do so starting June 10th. We’ll be sure to update this post when we know a bit more about what’s under the hood.
