Lenovo K4 Note announced with finger scanner and bundled VR headset
Lenovo has announced the K4 Note, the successor to the popular Lenovo K3 Note, which was released in March 2015. The new device improves on the old with the addition of a finger scanner and more RAM, alongside an updated processor and larger battery.
The official Lenovo K4 Note release date will be January 19 with pre-orders on Amazon India as of now. The Lenovo K4 Note price is set at Rs. 11,998 (the equivalent of $180) and will be available in a bundle with the AntVR virtual reality headset for Rs. 12,499. The AntVR headset is usually priced at Rs. 1,299.
The other Lenovo K4 Note specs include a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS LCD display with Gorilla Glass 3. The K4 Note is powered by a 64-bit MediaTek MT6753 chipset with 3 GB of LP DDR3 RAM, 16 GB of internal storage and microSD expansion up to 128 GB. The K4 Note features stereo front-facing Dolby Atmos speakers.
The Lenovo K4 Note also comes with a 13 MP primary camera, complete with two-tone LED flash and Phase-Detection Auto-Focus (PDAF). Up front, there’s a 5 MP front-facing camera. The K4 Note runs Android 5.1 Lollipop at launch with Lenovo’s Vibe UI and supports LTE bands 40 and 41 in India.
The Lenovo K4 Note battery gets a ten percent increase to 3,300 mAh from the K3 Note but doesn’t leave a larger footprint than the K3 Note. However, the K4 Note is a little heavier – 160 grams compared to 150 grams – and is also a bit thicker than its predecessor at 9.15 mm. Fortunately an NFC chip and FM radio are also packed in there.
Lenovo’s choice to make the K4 Note an Amazon exclusive is an interesting move, excluding Flipkart in the bargain, but the decision has been met with positive responses on social media so far. Lenovo also has plans for a premium leather cover along with various wood grain covers, which will be available soon.
