It’s the end of an era, with the last LG phone available via a US national carrier dropped once and for all.

According to a report by Wave7 Research, AT&T has dropped the LG Velvet, the last LG smartphone model available via a national carrier in the US. The LG Velvet was a sleek dual-screen design that focused on form and aesthetics and generally received favorable reviews.

LG was once one of the major smartphone manufacturers, known for revolutionary — and sometimes downright odd — designs. Unfortunately, LG struggled to break into the premium market dominated by Apple and Samsung. After years of losing ground, LG finally threw in the towel, but not before releasing the Velvet, its last hurrah.

Fortunately for users, LG did commit to providing software updates to select phones, and the Velvet is one of those models. The phone started receiving Android 12 in March, and users should receive updates through at least Android 13.

In the meantime, the Velvet being dropped from AT&T’s lineup marks the end of LG’s run in the smartphone space and removes one of the most innovative players in the market.
