Updated 5/16/2018 at 2:26 P.M. EST: Netmarble’s latest title Iron Throne is available now from the Google Play Store. In addition to standard MMO strategy gameplay teased a few weeks ago, it will feature several other battle-focused game modes, including a battle royale mode to match current gaming trends.

Playing as a medieval lord, players vie for the Iron Throne by completing quests in the story mode and fighting as part of an alliance in the Capital War. Expect a multitude of RPG elements like character leveling and a crafting system to play an important role, as well.

Original post, April 19: Publishing giant Netmarble has launched its new massively multiplayer online (MMO) strategy game in Seoul. Iron Throne, which previously went by the name Firstborn: Kingdom Come, will be up for pre-registration on Android soon ahead of a release in May.

Set in a fantasy realm, Iron Throne lets players take control of a variety of heroes in a fully 3D setting. It features a variety of weapons, ride-able dragons, and up to 100 versus 100 player online battles.

Little else is known about the game at this point, though it looks like Netmarble has high expectations for it. The South Korean company’s chief global officer, Lee Seung-won, said during a press conference in Seoul that Iron Throne “will play a pivotal role in the company’s future growth.”

That’s quite a statement, given that Netmarble is part of one of the world’s biggest games publishers (as part of Tencent), and already has a number of games making hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue per year. It’s responsible for titles like Lineage 2 Revolution, Marvel: Future Fight and Star Wars: Force Arena, among many others.

Iron Throne is being pitched at global markets and The Korea Times stated that Netmarble wants to bring it to 251 countries (I guess that’s a typo, unless fantasy nations are included there also). We’ll let you know when and where it officially arrives.
