Huawei reveals four new P20 Pro colorways (Update: Leather model has 8GB RAM)
Update, August 31, 2018 (9:23AM PT): And just like that we have the price and release dates for all of the new P20 Pro colorways straight from the mouth of Huawei CEO Richard Yu. As you can see from the embedded presentation slides, the pearl white and aurora shades will be available from September 5 (markets to be confirmed) for both the P20 and P20 Pro priced at 649 euros (~$755) and 899 euros (~$1,046) respectively.
The real leather models, meanwhile, launch on the same day but are exclusive to the Huawei P20 Pro. You’re also looking at an increased price tag of 999 euros (~$1,162) although it’s worth noting these the leather models come with 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage, which is a significant boost over the base P20 Pro’s 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.
Original article, August 31, 2018 (8:36AM PT): Huawei has revealed two new colorways and two leather-backed models for its P20 Pro flagship — and they’re all absolutely gorgeous. The four new variants were revealed today at Huawei’s IFA 2018 presentation.
As we exclusively reported just over a week ago, the new, non-leather finishes were inspired by the popularity of the twilight gradient color palette. These are aurora — named after and designed after the aurora borealis — and pearl white.
While aurora’s black to turquoise gradient is the most eye-catching, the pearl white looks equally stunning and features subtle yellow and pink tints from certain angles.
Most of the attention, however, will go to the black and brown leather versions of the triple-camera-toting phone. We’ve seen a few leather-backed phones in the past from the likes of LG, but this is a first for Huawei.
I’m guessing these will be a love-it-or-hate-it deal for many, but personally I think they look sexy as all hell. I especially like that the Leica branding has been embossed into the leather just below the rear camera.
You can marvel at all the new colors in the gallery below.
We’ve yet to hear any info on regional availability or price, but we’ll keep you posted.
