How to change your name on Zoom

For people who wish to use a name other than their own (a nickname, for example) when using Zoom Meetings, the Zoom app allows you to change your name as it appears during meetings and on invitations. You can set up a different name outside of a meeting, or while one is going on. The procedure for changing your name on Zoom varies depending on your platform, so check the instructions below that match your situation.

Changing your name on Zoom before a meeting

On a computer

1. Go to the Zoom website (the app will redirect you there for this action, anyways).
2. Log in.
3. Once you’re in your profile screen, hit Edit next to your name.
4. Change the section called Display Name. You can also change your first and last name if you wish.
5. Hit Save when done.

Using an Android device

1. Launch the Zoom app.
2. Hit Sign In.
3. Enter your credentials and select Sign In.
4. Select the More tab.
5. Tap on the box with your name and other personal info.
6. Go into Display Name.
7. Enter the desired first, last, and display names and click Save to record your changes.

On an iOS device

1. Launch the Zoom app.
2. Hit Sign In.
3. Enter your credentials and select Sign In.
4. Tap on the More tab.
5. Tap on your name to bring up your profile.
6. On your profile page, click on Display Name.
7. Tap on the Display Name option.
8. Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the meeting. Tap Save to record your changes.

Changing your name on Zoom during a meeting

On a computer

1. When in a meeting, click on the Participants button.
2. Click on your name.
3. Select More.
4. Click on Rename.
5. Enter your name and hit Change.

On Android and iOS devices

1. During a meeting, tap on the Participants button.
2. Tap on your name.
3. Hit Rename.
4. Type your name in and hit OK.
